What Is an Ammortal Chamber? And Why We Are Bringing One to Atlanta

Ammortal Chamber at Paragon Sports Medicine in Atlanta

An Ammortal Chamber is a reclining wellness pod that runs five non-invasive technologies at the same time, in one guided session: full-body red and near-infrared light, pulsed electromagnetic and pulsed electric fields, inhaled molecular hydrogen, vibroacoustic sound, and guided breathwork. Sessions run 25 or 50 minutes. It is classified by its manufacturer as a low-risk general wellness product, not a medical device, and it is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease.

That is the short answer. The longer answer is more interesting, because the individual pieces are not new. What is new is running them together, and being deliberate about what that does and does not mean.

An Ammortal Chamber arrives at Paragon Sports Medicine in Atlanta in October 2026.

The five systems, one at a time

Most descriptions of the Chamber blur into adjectives. Here is what is actually inside it, with the specifications the manufacturer publishes.

Red and near-infrared light

The Chamber delivers full-body photobiomodulation at two wavelengths, 660 nanometers in the visible red range and 850 nanometers in the near-infrared range. Red light is absorbed close to the surface. Near-infrared travels further into tissue. It is the same red light therapy sold as a standalone service around Atlanta, delivered full body rather than panel by panel.

This is the most studied of the five. Research in athletes has found that whole-body photobiomodulation improves recovery after exercise, though the same work found it did not improve performance or physiological response during the effort itself. That distinction matters. The evidence supports it as a recovery tool rather than as a way to make you faster on the day.

One practical consequence: light does not pass through fabric. Whatever the light does not reach, it does not affect. This is why sessions are taken in swimwear or underwear.

Pulsed electromagnetic and pulsed electric fields

The Chamber applies short-duration electrical and magnetic pulses across a stated range of 0.5 hertz to 50 megahertz. You do not feel most of it.

PEMF has the deepest clinical literature of anything in the Chamber. A randomized controlled trial in patients recovering from partial knee replacement found improved pain management and clinical outcomes. Separate work has looked at wound healing and at aerobic performance during a preseason training camp. The research is real, and it is also specific: these are studies of particular protocols in particular populations, not a general claim about wellbeing.

Molecular hydrogen

Hydrogen gas is produced from distilled water and delivered through a nasal cannula at about 600 milliliters per minute. You breathe it normally through the session.

The mechanism proposed in the foundational 2007 paper in Nature Medicine is selective antioxidant activity: hydrogen appears to neutralize the most damaging oxygen radicals while leaving the ones your body uses for signaling alone. That is a genuinely elegant idea and it has held up as a research direction. A 2026 evidence-based review in the World Journal of Orthopaedics looked specifically at molecular hydrogen in musculoskeletal conditions and described the field as promising with important limitations, which is a fair summary of where it stands.

Vibroacoustic sound

Low-frequency sound is transmitted through the surface of the Chamber so you feel it as much as hear it. Ammortal composes its soundscapes in house and pairs them to each program.

Vibroacoustic stimulation has been studied in athletes recovering from exercise and, in an fMRI study, in patients with insomnia, where researchers looked at changes in functional connectivity in the brain. It has also been used in chronic pain rehabilitation. This is a smaller literature than light or PEMF, but it exists and it is peer reviewed.

Guided breathwork

The session is narrated. You are cued when to breathe in, when to hold, and when to release, and the sound and light programs follow that rhythm.

This is the least technological part of the Chamber and, in the experience of most people who use it, one of the most noticeable. It is also the part that makes the session hard to do badly. You are not left to figure it out.

What an Ammortal Chamber session is actually like

You change in a private room. You lie back on a heated surface with the canopy above you. A nasal cannula sits under your nose for the hydrogen. Then the program starts, and the light, the sound, the vibration, the fields, and the breathing cues run together for the length you have chosen.

There is nothing to do. That is the part people find unfamiliar. You are not tracking a screen, holding a position, or counting anything. Most people describe the state as relaxed but not sleepy, and the after-effect as clear-headed rather than sedated.

You choose a program before you start. Ammortal builds seven, each pairing the technologies with different breathwork and original scoring: Recover, Energize, Relax, Release, Reconnect, Envision, and Expand. The names are not decoration. A Recover session and an Energize session run the light, sound and breathing to different ends.

Ammortal publishes figures from its own user surveys: 95 percent reported deep peace and calm, 85 percent a quieting of the mind with increased focus, and 90 percent an energizing reset without jitters. Those are the manufacturer's own numbers from the manufacturer's own users, and no sample size or survey method has been published alongside them. Read them as a description of a consistent experience, not as a clinical outcome.

The Chamber accommodates people from about four feet eight inches to six feet eight inches in height, and up to 400 pounds.

Ammortal Chamber benefits, and the honest limit on that phrase

Here is the part most pages skip.

Each technology inside the Chamber has its own body of published research, and that research supports specific things: recovery after exercise, pain outcomes in defined clinical settings, sleep and nervous system measures, wound healing. Those studies were done on the technologies individually.

The combination has not been studied as a unit. No published trial has tested all five running together against any of them running alone. Anyone who tells you the combination is proven is describing marketing, not evidence.

What can be said fairly:

  • The individual modalities have more than a decade of published safety and efficacy work behind them
  • The consistent pattern reported by users is deep relaxation during, and clear-headed energy afterward
  • The strongest research signal across the technologies is in recovery, sleep, and nervous system regulation rather than in performance on the day
  • The Chamber is a general wellness product, not a treatment for any condition

If that framing sounds cautious, it is because it is accurate. It is also, in our view, the more persuasive case. A tool that reliably produces deep parasympathetic recovery in 25 minutes is valuable on its own terms. It does not need to be more than that.

Who should not use an Ammortal Chamber

Tell your provider before you book if any of the following apply to you:

  • You have a pacemaker, defibrillator, or any implanted electronic device
  • You are pregnant
  • You have a seizure disorder

There are other situations where a conversation should happen first, including active cancer treatment, photosensitizing medications, and recent surgery. The reasons differ. Pulsed electromagnetic fields are the concern with implanted devices. Light is the concern with medications that increase photosensitivity, which is a longer list than most people expect and includes some common antibiotics, diuretics and acne treatments. Recent surgery is about the tissue, not the technology.

None of that means the answer is no. It means the answer should come from someone who has read your history, which is the point of doing this inside a medical practice.

At Paragon, our clinical team reviews your history with you at orientation before your first session rather than handing you a waiver and pointing at the door. If anything on this list applies to you, say so when you join the waitlist and we will take it from there.

How often should you use it

Ammortal's guidance, which matches what we have seen elsewhere, is three to four sessions a week when the goal is recovery and physical optimization, and one to two a week when the goal is stress, mood, and nervous system regulation. Maximum use is 60 minutes in a day.

For most people the honest answer is that cadence should follow the goal, and the goal should be set with someone who knows your history. A person training through a competitive season and a person managing a stressful year of work need different schedules, even though they are lying in the same Chamber.

The Ammortal Chamber in Atlanta

Atlanta has red light studios. It has cryotherapy, contrast therapy, infrared saunas, and hyperbaric chambers. What it mostly does not have is all of it in one guided session, inside a practice where a physician is responsible for the plan around it.

That is what changes in October 2026. Paragon Sports Medicine is bringing an Ammortal Chamber to our new Atlanta location, in its own private room, with parking on site.

We are building three programs around it. Athletic Recovery, timed to training blocks and competition calendars. Nervous System Reset, for overloaded schedules and short sleep. And Longevity Maintenance, where the Chamber sits alongside hormone optimization, peptide therapy, NAD+ and IV therapy rather than standing on its own.

The reason we are doing it is not novelty. Recovery is the part of most people's training and most people's lives that gets skipped, because it is the part that feels optional. A 25 minute session that reliably drops you into a recovered state is a way to stop skipping it.

The Chamber also sits inside a medical practice rather than a storefront, which means we can put it in context. It runs alongside IV therapy, peptide therapy, and the rest of our recovery program, matched to what your labs and your goals actually call for.

Dr. Ched Garten, MD leads the sports medicine and regenerative side of that work. Jordan Carney, CRNP leads hormone and longevity care. Both will be involved in how the Chamber is programmed for individual patients.

Sessions and memberships will be open to everyone. You do not need to be a Paragon patient.

Common questions

Is an Ammortal Chamber the same as a red light bed?

No. Red and near-infrared light is one of five systems in the Chamber. A red light bed delivers only that one.

Do you feel the electromagnetic fields?

Most people do not. The sensation people report is the vibroacoustic sound, which you feel through the surface of the Chamber.

Is it FDA approved?

No, and it does not claim to be. The manufacturer classifies it as a low-risk general wellness product that does not require FDA clearance. Statements about it have not been evaluated by the FDA.

How long is a session?

Twenty-five or fifty minutes. Those are the two lengths offered at our Atlanta location.

What do you wear?

Swimwear or underwear works best, because red and near-infrared light cannot pass through fabric. You undress only to the level you are comfortable with, in a private room, and no staff is present during the session.

Where can I use an Ammortal Chamber in Atlanta?
